A well-deserved honor for an outstanding group of heroes!

Congratulations to the dedicated firefighters of the City of Nanticoke on being recognized at this year's Burn Prevention Network Spirit of Courage Awards Ceremony in Bethlehem, PA!

This prestigious recognition honors their life-saving efforts during a structure fire on South Hanover Street in Nanticoke on February 24, 2026. Thanks to their courage, quick response, and unwavering commitment, a victim was rescued and transported for medical treatment before later being transferred to a burn center.

Receiving the Spirit of Courage Award were:

👏 Assistant Fire Chief Greg Grzymski
👏 Captain Brian Zegarski
👏 Firefighter Chandler Prymowicz

The Spirit of Courage program recognizes firefighters, EMS personnel, and police officers from Central, Eastern, and Northeastern Pennsylvania who put themselves in harm's way to save others from serious injury or death due to fire.

These men exemplify what it means to serve: courage under pressure, dedication to their community, and a commitment to protecting the lives of others.

Today, we celebrate not just an award, but the bravery, teamwork, and selflessness behind it!

To Chief Boncal, Assistant Chief Grzymski, Captain Zegarski, FF Prymowicz, and every member of the Nanticoke Fire Department — THANK YOU for answering the call and making a difference when it matters most!
